What is the Passport to Christmas Program?
This is a program that promotes shopping local. For every 10 dollars spent by the public at a participating business, they get a "stamp" in their passport. When a passport is full they are entered into a draw for a Westjet Gift Card or the cash equivalent. This type of program runs in many small communities successfully, and it will be the second year that we run it in Sylvan Lake.
How much does it cost for a business to participate?
It costs just $25 to register. This helps us cover the cost of printing and goes towards the prize for the winner. All businesses in Sylvan Lake are welcome to participate.
When does the program start and end?
This year, the Passport to Christmas Program will run from November 30th to January 5th with the prize draw taking place that week after all of the completed passports are returned.
What types of purchases qualify?
Any purchase qualifies. This program is about local spending, and not neccessarily about the purchase of a gift for the holiday. The public can get stamps dining out, getting gift cards, oil changes, getting a coffee, spa services and more. They just need to do it at one of the participating businesses.
If my business participates, what is our responsibility?
Registered businesses would hand out passports and make their staff aware of the program. You would let participants drop off their completed passport - and either make them available for pick up by a volunteer or better yet, drop them off at the Chamber office.
How do I register my business?
The registration deadline is November 15th. You can use this secure link to register your business and make your payment.
